Halloween spectacular
WORDS FROM NFC STUDENT AMY RASO
NFC’s Haunted Manor Halloween Party was definitely a night to remember.
The event celebrated everything NFC encompasses. It was a night of celebration, community and the most spectacular costumes you could dream of.
The bump in for the event got us in the Halloween spirit. I was amazed to see how we were able to transform the campus from the fabulous space we all know and love to a glamourous yet ghoulish Halloween space. Metallic red streamers lined the windows and our beloved magazine wall had been taken over by giant spiders.
Witches, werewolves and skeletons took over the college leaving no corner unturned by the Halloween spirit. I’m not quite sure what I imagined the event to look like but it truly exceeded my expectations. It was also so amazing to be able to work so closely with the team during the bump in and out.
I loved being able to experiment and brainstorm a costume for the event. Every time a different piece of the costume arrived it just made the lead up to the event so much more exciting. It was such a fun experience putting all the pieces together to create the total outfit and getting to live out the dream of being Kylie Jenner for the night.
The event itself was incredible. A highlight of the night for me was seeing everyone’s costumes and their individual takes on the characters they were dressing as. The costume portion of the night really allowed for everyone’s personalities and styling skills to shine. I found it so welcoming that everyone was so excited to see and celebrate each other’s costumes. Another highlight would have to be the surprise performance of ‘I’m in love with a monster’ from our very talented guest.
My favourite part of the night was the sense of community that I witnessed and personally got to experience myself. Students past and present all came together on this special night to celebrate. There was not one student sitting alone or feeling out of place. No matter where you looked there was people laughing and talking. The community that NFC has built is something that should be celebrated.
I couldn’t have asked for a better night or better people to have spent it with. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that NFC know how to throw a party.
