MAKING CONNECTIONS: MY FIRST NETWORKING EXPERIENCE

Taking my first dive into the fashion scene, attending the networking event at the National Fashion College was such an incredible experience; the perfect way to mark the inauguration of my fashion journey. I’d been counting down the days to embark on this adventure with NFC and was filled with butterflies and excitement coming into this new experience.

As I walked in through campus I immediately felt the warmth and creativity in the air. The room was filled with aspiring stylists, designers and fashion enthusiasts and I knew this is where I belonged. Being only 16 years of age, I knew I would be one of the youngest in the room, and I was so nervous to be amongst such talented, experienced and stylish people. However, everyone was so welcoming and it was so refreshing being around beautiful, like-minded people.

During the event I had the pleasure of listening to the Creative Director of TRIANGL Swimwear, Jaynee Penny, and her phenomenal journey through the fashion industry. She shared valuable tips, industry advice, challenges and memorable experiences. Hearing the story of someone who has overcome many obstacles and has worked incredibly hard to climb their way to success was so inspiring and made me even more eager to begin my career in the fashion world.

By the end of the event, I not only walked away with new friends and a wealth of knowledge, but a renewed sense of motivation and exhilaration for my future in fashion. I couldn’t have dreamt of a better way to start my college experience and am so excited for the plans of the year ahead to unfold. I can’t wait to begin my fashion journey with the National Fashion College, knowing that I’ll be surrounded by such a vibrant and supportive community! This is just the beginning…
