VOGUE FASHION NIGHT OUT
WORDS BY NFC STUDENT, RUBY MACKENZIE
Last week, one of fashion’s biggest ticket events took place; Vogue’s Fashion Night Out.
Located in the heart of Sydney’s luxury fashion district, Pitt Street Mall, crowds were captured in the excitement of the event. With pop ups adorned with bold, black ‘Vogue’ lettering and golden tassled ropes, it felt like you were walking onto a red carpet event as a celeb yourself.
Presented by American Express, with support from Sephora, Blow Bar, Stan, and QT Hotel’s, the event featured several pop ups with free matcha, photo ops and its very own Toblerone ‘Never Square’, where people could get a complimentary sugar kick.
Showcasing four runways throughout the day, we had a busy day ahead of us. Anticipation settled to excitement as Australian singer-songwriter, Meg Mac, kicked off the show. As soulful singing transformed into bassy pop, so did the venue. Spotlights shining on a polished runway, models backstage finishing their looks with sparkly jewellery. The excitement never fades, even after so many runway shows.
After two shows and about 80 different looks, all the staff went for lunch. Having the opportunity to connect with so many other NFC students, both new and familiar, is my favourite part of the day. After fashion-filled conversations, some Guzman Y Gomez and a quick shop in Zara (who’s team is visiting us at College later this week), we got back to it.
We wrapped up the day with another two shows before packing the clothes away and of course getting some content at all the pop-ups. The spotlights went dim and the runway empty. I made my way home, passing Louis Vuitton, Chanel and every luxury designer store you can name, and reflected on my day at Vogue’s Fashion Night Out.
