WORKING ACROSS BARKAA’S LATEST MUSIC VIDEO

WORDS BY NFC STUDENT CHLOE MUSCAT

Experiencing someone’s culture is something I'll cherish forever. Being among a community whose land we stand on is a true blessing. Having the chance to be a part of BARKAA’s New Music Video, alongside Matt Jordan, Director of MFPR is an opportunity I'm incredibly grateful for.

I received an email from NFC about a last-minute chance to assist on a music video. Without hesitation, I replied, hoping to secure a spot. When I got the confirmation that I'd be involved, I was overjoyed. Though, I must admit, I had no idea what the project was about, but that added to the excitement. On Saturday morning, I eagerly headed off to the location.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by friendly faces and instantly felt at home among people united by one vision. Working on BARKAA’s new music video was truly eye-opening! It emphasised that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.

The story behind the project was incredible to witness.

The day was filled with moving from one location to another to film different parts of the music video. We started with a scene involving BARKAA and her mum at a house, then moved to a car scene before heading to the next location.

At the second location, there were cool dirt bikes and cars being prepared to add an exciting element to the video. After filming for a few hours, we headed to a studio where other NFC students and dancers were working. It was amazing to see the large community of people who came to support BARKAA, and be part of the final scene. Witnessing the immense support behind such an incredible women was truly inspiring. Ending the night with a lovely team dinner was the perfect way to wrap up the day. I was grateful for how well I was treated by Matt and his team, as well as everyone else involved in making the video happen.

Not only did I gain valuable industry experience being right on set, but I also felt liberated. I had the chance to showcase my love for social media and connect with inspiring women on set. BARKAA’s music video was a one-of-a-kind experience, and I'm eager to continue my journey with projects like this.

That's why whenever an opportunity arises, I'll always step up. I believe the best way to learn, and grow is by diving head first into whatever you want to achieve.
