Celebrating FIFA Women's World Cup Fashion
WORDS BY NFC STUDENT ROSA GIBSON
The outfits Jess designed were her own adaptations from the Adidas Originals collection, as they were a main sponsor for the event.
The performance consisted of five looks across a diverse cast of choir and dancers. The colour palette inclded pink and red sportswear to inspire fans to embrace their individuality and celebrate their love for the sport through fashion.
Wearing a Women's World Cup jersey is not just a fashion choice; it's a declaration of support for female athletes and the advancement of women's sports.
Every outfit told a story of passion, empowerment, and the love of the beautiful game. I loved that the team I was working with was so diverse as it shows that the Women’s World Cup is not only about celebrating athleticism but also promotes equality and diversity.
I would also like to mention all the dedicated professionals including:
Creative Director - Mitchell Woodcock,
New Ground Collective,
Chorus Collective and
Tones & I along with her team who worked tirelessly to make it all happen. They are the true architects of fashion and history’s most captivating moments.
The FIFA Women's World Cup is more than a soccer tournament; it's a platform for celebrating diversity, equality, and personal expression through fashion. Dressing Tones & I for this performance was so empowering and truly an honour.
What a time to be alive & to be a woman!
The FIFA Women's World Cup is not just a thrilling showcase of women's soccer talent; it's a celebration of unity, diversity, and style.
Recently I was able to assist an experience behind the glamour to explore the fascinating world of working behind the scenes of a fashion/ sports event.
As the tournament gains momentum and captures hearts around the globe, it's not just the matches that inspire. The fashion choices and personal styles of both players and performers have become an integral part of the Women's World Cup experience.
Behind the glitz and glamour of a fashion event lies a world of hard work, coordination, and creativity. The individuals working behind the scenes are the unsung heroes who bring the fashion vision to life.
I would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude to Jess Linton- Lead stylist and Costume Designer, for allowing me to be apart of this experience. I learnt so much from observing her precise attention to detail and watching her creative ideas be brought to life. Thank you for making me feel like a valued member of the team and willingly sharing your knowledge and advice, your mentorship has enhanced my skills and fuelled my passion for fashion and styling.
